Late Summer Report - Destin Vacation Boat Rentals

Written by DVBR | Aug 31, 2013 11:05:00 AM

According to the City of Destin, we have yet to hit the 90 degree mark this summer. It’s been a humid and wet summer to say the least, with July making history as the rainiest July in history in Destin! August was better but we still had more than our fair share of rain. Thanks to all of our wonderful customers for being flexible and rolling with the punches Mother Nature threw at us this season.

Despite the cooler than usual summer, fishing has been hot, hot, hot!

Offshore Fishing Report

Offshore, amberjack, triggerfish, and grouper are the primary targets right now, and we are still seeing a good mix of kings, vermillion snapper, and the occasional mahi as well. All of these can be caught within a few miles of the shoreline.

If you’re looking for bigger game fish and want to head way offshore, our deepsea boats are tearing up the mahi, tuna, and wahoo right now. Here’s a picture from a recent two-day trip on Realin’ Scripts with a great catch! Would you look at all those fish…

Inshore Fishing Report

The inshore bite remains strong and plenty of trout and redfish are making their way into the docks, with plenty of oversized reds being thrown back. This trip on Dawn Patrol caught their limit of redfish and said it was only half of what they caught!

News

Labor Day weekend is upon us and along with it the last of this year’s licence-free saltwater fishing days. Tomorrow, Sept 1, 2013, is a license-free saltwater fishing day, so if you’re looking to save some money ($17 per person over the age of 16) on a fishing trip, rent a fishing boat or some fishing poles, and plan to hit the water tomorrow!
