HGTV Visits Crab Island in Destin, Florida

It's one of the biggest hot spots in Destin Florida. Crab Island is famous for its Emerald waters, boat accessibility, floating restaurants, inflatable water parks, and, of course, laid-back atmosphere. Now the sand bar is getting even more national attention on HGTV's new show 'How Close Can I Beach'. According to the network, the show focuses on "buyers with dreams of living near the sand and surf who learn that sometimes the ideal house may not be right on the beach. [Throughout the show] they'll tour different homes that offer the beach lifestyle at varying distances to the shore and witness firsthand the clear differences in space, amenities and views these homes offer. After carefully considering their options, they'll decide how close to the beach their dream house will be."

In the episode titled 'Finding the Best in Destin', a family searching for their perfect vacation home must choose between different homes in Destin, all at various distances to the beach. During their house-hunting, the show contacted Destin Vacation Boat Rentals and arranged for a day on the water with the family so that they could truly experience the beach life, Destin style. While on the water, they paid a visit to Water World, the floating restaurant at Crab Island and met with their realtor to discuss their various housing options. The family chose to spend the day on one of our double decker pontoon boats with slides to allow their kids some extra fun in the sun while out on the water, then followed up with an afternoon of bay fishing on a pontoon boat with owner Chris Thomas.
